Information for Employees Enrolled in the 2011 Flexible Spending Account January 20, 2011 - DCSS Human Resources Department To All Employees Enrolled in the 2011 Flexible Spending Account: You should have received your MEDCOM debit MasterCard in December along with a letter explaining how the card works. PLEASE read all correspondence that you receive from MEDCOM and keep it on file. Listed below are some highlights of the plan that you may find helpful in getting started with your 2011 Flex medical or dependent care account. A fee will apply for lost or stolen cards and will be deducted from your flex balance. If you did not get a card, please contact customer service at 1-800-523-7542. You must set up an account online in order to keep up with your account status throughout the year. The letter you received from MEDCOM explains how to create your online account. (Employee # is your SS# without dashes) (When it prompts you for Employer ID # - skip this) Always keep your receipts. You may be asked to provide them later to substantiate your debit card transactions. If you do not respond to the request for receipts your card will be deactivated. Review your FSA balance regularly. Each individual will be responsible for checking your balance online or by calling the Easy Balance System # 1-866-631-4603. You will not be able to check your balance through HR benefits. As part of the Health Care Reform you will no longer be able to buy over-the-counter (OTC) drugs without a prescription. If you have a prescription you may submit a manual claim to MEDCOM for reimbursement by submitting the receipt and prescription with your claim form. You can use your FSA debit card for some over-the-counter-expenses such as Diabetic supplies, thermometers, first aid supplies, contact lens solution). See website for more information. All transactions made with your FSA debit card must be made as a CREDIT (not debit). Employees may view the following links for further clarification on items that are covered and those that are not:
