CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

There
are a variety of clubs and organizations for you to get involved in at AHS.
Remember the more you get involved the more you will enjoy your high school
years!
Art
Club
The club
is open to all AHS students interested in participation in school and community
art projects, museum exhibits/events, and art competitions.
As-One
The
student body elects members of the As-One committee annually. The As-One
committee makes its mark by discussing how racially related concerns could be
prevented and solved.
Concert/Symphonic
Stage Band
This
course is designed to teach fundamentals of music by participation in a
performing group.
Marching
Band
This
course is designed to teach the fundamentals of marching and increase the level
of playing ability.
The
National Beta Club is a non-secret, achievement-service organization. Its
purpose is to encourage and reward attainment and the highest ideals of
honesty, service, and leadership. To be eligible for Beta Club, a student must
have a 3.5 minimum grade point average per semesters for two consecutive
semesters. There can be no grade below a B. Conduct grades must be
satisfactory.
Block
A
Block
A is composed of those students who have earned a letter for sports agility and
musical or academics ability.
Chess
This club meets regularly to learn and engage in the game of chess.
Chorus
This
course is designed to teach the fundamentals of choral performance with
specific emphasis on voice training.
Debate
Debate
members’ research current issues and they compete in tournaments.
The
Distributive Education Club of Albany High is the student organization
companion to the Marketing Education classes. This is an advanced study of
careers in professional business including advertising, internet business,
management careers, and owning your own business.
The
objective of the drama club is to provide information and to teach appreciation
of dramatic art as a means of self- expression, to develop the dramatic ability
of its members, and to create a higher ideal of dramatic ability.
Excel
is a community- oriented service organization. It is in conjunction with the
Albany Exchange Club at the fair.
Europe Trip
On Spring Break, AHS students will travel to sites others only study about in the textbooks, meet new friends, and experience unique cultures in far away lands. The Europe Trip began in Mr. Miller's 2006 World History classes. The 2007 trip is to Greece and Italy. Any AHS student may join the Europe trip by singing up. The lifetime membership fee is only $95 and travelers conduct year-round fundraisers to reduce the cost of travel. The Europe Trip is an investment in your future!
FCCLA
Family, Community, Career Leaders of America is designed to prepare students to become good members of society.
FC
The
purpose of Fellowship of Christian Students is to confront athletes and
coaches, and, through them, the youth of the nation with the challenge and
adventure of accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, participating in His
church and serving Him through our vocations.
French
Club promotes the study of the French language, French culture and cuisine.
Future
Business Leaders of America is the national organization for all high school
students participating in business and information technology.
Part of the HealthCare Science and Technology program.
Organized
to expand students’ awareness of the Japanese language and culture, the
Japanese Club sponsors several Japanese festivals.
Organized to allow student interested in a career in criminal justice to practice courtroom simulations. If you are intersted in law enforcement or criminal justice, Mock Trial is the place for you. Get up and get active for AHS!
NTHS
Pep Club is an organization made up of students from every grade that work to increase school spirit and try to provide a positive example for their peers.
In charge of running the school's auditorium during events.
Spanish
Club is made up of members who have completed at least one year of Spanish.
Responsible for governing the student body at AHS.
TASCO
(Teenage Support Council) consists of teens helping people through difficult
times.
VICA
Vocational
Industrial Clubs of America is a term used to refer to the club functions of
the DCT Programs. In order to become a member of VICA, you must take DCT.
Vocational Opportunities Clubs of America is a vocational organization that gets students involved in the community.
Responsible for putting together the school annual called the Throneteska.
