Following Hurricane Irma, the Dougherty County School System will re-open Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 as usual. All schools and offices will resume normal operations.
Hurricane Irma prompted school closures throughout Georgia and Florida as it made landfall and moved north into Southwest Georgia.
After assessing damage to schools, Superintendent Kenneth Dyer and his senior leadership team decided to re-open schools. Only minor damage was reported.
Thursday and Friday's early dismissal for parent-teacher conferences will go on as planned.
