Carol Tharin
was elected to the board in 2010 and currently serves as
Chairman. She is a member of the largest
graduating class ever at Albany High School and holds a Bachelor of
Arts degree in speech from Auburn University. Her career experience
includes ownership of both retail and wholesale businesses and retired
in 2008 having served 19 years in the financial services industry.
Tharin currently
serves on the Board of Directors of the SWGA Auburn Club and is a past
member of the SWGA Therapeutic Riding Center Board of Directors. She
is a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and Whiz Kids and is a member of
Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church.

Lane Price, M.D. was
elected to the Dougherty County Board of Education as the at-large
member in 2012. Dr. Price is the medical director of Albany Community
Hospice and of the Willson Hospice House in Albany. She serves as
co-chair of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital's Cancer Committee and is
a clinical professor with the Medical College of Georgia teaching
medical students based in Albany. Dr. Price holds an A.B. degree in
mathematics from Emory University, an M.Ed. from The University of
Georgia, and completed doctoral work in physical chemistry at The
University of Georgia. She has a medical degree from Medical
College of Georgia and is a board certified physician in therapeutic
radiology as well as hospice and palliative medicine.
Dr. Price is a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Dougherty
County Rotary Club, a graduate of Leadership Albany, and a member of
the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Ethics Committee.

Robert Youngblood
was elected to the board in 2012. He is a lifelong resident of
Dougherty County and attended Magnolia Elementary, Merry Acres Middle,
and Westover High Schools. His career experience includes 30 years of
service in the Dougherty County School System as a teacher, coach, and
administrator at the elementary, secondary, and central office levels.
After retiring from DCSS in 2008 as a Director
in the Central Office, he accepted a position with DOCO Credit Union
as Vice President of Administration where he currently serves as an
Executive Vice President. He holds a Bachelor of Science from
Valdosta State University, a Master of Education from Albany State
University, and an Educational Specialist degree from The University
of Georgia.
Youngblood's current community involvement
includes serving as Chapter Vice President of Southwest Georgia Credit
Union, membership in the Albany Exchange Club, and Albany YMCA. He is
a member of Porterfield United Methodist Church.

Milton Griffin, the
former owner of Junebug's Grocery,
was elected to the Board of Education in November 2000. He is active in Dixie Youth Baseball
and the Holiday Society Club. Mr. Griffin attends 2nd Mt. Zion
Baptist Church.

Velvet Riggins is a native Albanian, a graduate of Dougherty
High School, and the mother of three school-age children. Mrs. Riggins
is a graduate of Claflin College, Orangeburg, South Carolina, where
she attended on a four-year basketball scholarship. She is a member of
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Family Connection, Chosen to Conquer,
Inc., and is a mentor with Communities in Schools and an Albany High
School Band & Basketball Booster. Mrs. Riggins attends Church of
Christ US 19 South. Her favorite quote is, "You miss 100% of the shots

Rev. James Bush was elected to the Board in 2004. He is the owner of Bush Ventures,
Inc., a business consulting firm. Rev. Bush is a former Albany Man of
the Year and an inductee into the Albany State University Hall of
Fame. He is a former Dougherty County police officer, a former
Dougherty County commissioner, and was Congressional Aide to
Congressman Charles Hatcher for 12 years. He has served as a member of
the First State Bank Advisory Board of Colquitt, Georgia. Rev. Bush
serves as pastor of the Greater Pines Chapel Missionary Baptist
Church. He is a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Darrel Ealum was elected to represent the citizens of District 6 in
2010. Ealum is a real estate and property management business owner
with real assets in Dougherty and three surrounding counties. He has
a masters degree from Pepperdine University and worked as associate
professor at the University of Miami (Ohio). The retired Marine
officer has served as president of two Kiwanis Clubs and was
Southwest Georgia Division Lt. Governor. He and his wife are most
proud of their two daughters who are Marine lieutenants. BOE Committees:
