Magnet Programs - Dougherty Comprehensive High School

International Studies and Fine Arts Center of Excellence

International Baccalaureate programs cultivate internationalism and respect for other cultures, but also allow students to maintain a strong sense of cultural identity. Students are taught to be active learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged citizens who gain practical experience of being part of an international community.

Admission Requirements:

International Baccalaureate program

  1. Admission: Space available (lottery) for non-attendance area students
  2. Grades 9-10:  Meet promotion requirements for next grade level
  3. Complete the Personal Project
  4. Complete Middle Years Program course requirements which serve as prerequisites for entrance into the Diploma Program – Grades 11-12
  5. Complete all courses and other requirements (six exams in six courses, Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and 150 hours of Creativity, Action and Service (CAS))
  6. Must take and pass 4 years of Language B – (World Language:  Spanish or French)
  7. Must meet minimum attendance policy of 166 days per year
  8. Must not have any severe discipline referrals; Failure to complete requirements will result in reassignment (regular academic program or return to zoned home school)

Visual and Performing Arts program

  1. Interest in the Arts - Space available (lottery) for non-attendance area students
  2. Meet promotion requirements for next grade level
  3. Auditions for dance and drama performances
