Quick Links

Fundamental Magnet

Robert A. Cross Middle School is a fully accredited magnet program that specializes in preparing our students to be responsible, achieving citizens in today’s ever-changing world. All academic areas receive emphasis, and instructional time is rarely interrupted. Every student is taught on the same high level to ready them for higher education, and tutoring sessions during and after school are available for those who may need extra instruction. Academics are also balanced with exploration (connection) classes in the fine arts, technological skills, and health and physical education. Parental involvement begins on the first day of enrollment; all parents sign a contract making them an active partner in their child’s education.

Robert A. Cross Middle Magnet School Application

Admission Requirements:

Criteria for enrollment in Robert A. Cross Middle Magnet School must be met by all students not presently enrolled at Robert Cross.  In order to continue our high academic expectations, we screen all students on the waiting list before entrance into Robert Cross. The requirements will determine grade level performance, a concept of our magnet program, and entrance into our school.

All students on the waiting list will be tested at Robert A. Cross Middle Magnet School located at 324 Lockett Station Road.  The entrance requirements are as follows:

Three out of four must be met.

  1. Metropolitan 8 – score on grade level
  2. CRCT – 320/820 minimum in language arts, reading, and math
  3. Attendance – must meet Dougherty County School System policy for most recent year (attend 166/180 days)
  4. Discipline – no severe offenses in previous school (fights, harassment, disrespect, terroristic threats, etc.)

The Metropolitan 8 is a norm-referenced test in the content areas of reading comprehension, mathematics concepts and problem solving, and language.

Final admission to the school is based on passing all subjects in the current school and being promoted to the grade for which the student has applied.  The student  may not attend summer school to meet promotion requirements.
