Kindergarten at Lincoln is a very special place. We have seven classes
with twenty three students in each class. Each teacher has a

In reading, we learn the letters and sounds of the letters. We learn to read lots of sight words. We also learn to write as we learn to read. The children learn to write the letters at the beginning of the year. By the end of the year, we are beginning to write stories. We especially like to write stories on the computers in the computer lab. In math, we learn to read and write numbers. We can count sets of things and we can add and subtract using story problems. It is fun to make up problems for our friends to solve. We also learn to tell time on the hour. We can measure and weigh objects, too. Each day we have P.E. with Coach Sutton. The children love to work on throwing, skipping, running, and catching. We have music each week with Ms. Moody. We have learned to read notes in music and we can even play musical instruments. We go to the media center and check out library books. It is fun to get new library books. We love learning about art with Mrs. Smith each week. Center time is our favorite time of the day. The children enjoy reading in the book center, building in the block center, and choosing art activities in the art center. We have a dramatic play center where we can play house or play with the puppets. We have a writing center, a computer center, and a cooking center. Making choices helps us to become independent learners. We learn about all kinds of animals in science. We also study transportation, space, water, rocks, and plants. We go on field trips, too. There is so much to do in kindergarten. Come visit us and we'll show you how special we are!
