is an integral part of each child's complete
education at Lincoln. Each child has access to a balanced,
comprehensive, and sequential study in music.
Starting in Kindergarten, the child begins to develop basic vocal and rhythmic skills while learning to love music. Hands on music and movement experiences set the stage for concepts taught in the later grades. Students quickly learn traditional notation for rhythm and pitch. Song literature is the backbone of the music program, and songs from our music text are used to teach students. In grades one through five, music literacy and understanding are built through singing, listening, moving, creating, music reading, and playing instruments. Each child is given the opportunity to engage in a musical experience at his/her own level and develops a range of skills and knowledge that will lead to musical involvement and enjoyment throughout his/her life.
