The Dougherty County Youth Orchestra was founded by its former Music Director Mr. Sergio Rodriguez in 1997.

   The Orchestra is now in its 15th season.  During these years because of the hard work of Dougherty County School System orchestra teachers: Mr. Reshetnichenko, Ms. Jones, Mr. Stan, and Ms. McKinney the group has considerably improved the quality of the performances.  It is made up of forty middle and high school orchestra students of the Dougherty County School System and private music students of the community.

   The Orchestra rehearses at Darton College Band Room under the professional coaching of Mr. Alexander Reshetnichenko. The concerts are being held at Darton College Theater.

   The Orchestra performs several major concerts each year including the Orchestra Honor's Concert.

   The Dougherty Youth Symphony Orchestra continues to provide a new venue of cultural activity to our Southwest Georgia community.
