The Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004 requires Dougherty County Schools to allocate a proportionate share of IDEA funds to provide some services to some students who have been parentally placed or enrolled in the private school. In so doing, the federal regulations require the local school to consult with appropriate representatives of private school children with disabilities in an effort to determine which private school students should receive services, what services should be provided, how and where the services will be provided, and how the services will be evaluated.
