Celebrated Author Spearheads DCSS Writer-In-Residence Program

Sherwood Acres and Morningside Elementary Schools recently joined  Dr. Ufot Inyang, Associate Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer for the Dougherty County School System, to welcome National Book Award Finalist & Coretta Scott King Book Award Honoree, Shelia P. Moses.
Moses is participating with teachers in a semester-long Charter System Innovative Grant Writer in Residence, co-teaching professional learning project. Teachers spent 1-1/2 days during pre-planning finding their "VOICE" and learning strategies to coach the resistant writer to find their voices as a first step in engaging students to write.
Ms. Moses will return this fall for co-teaching experiences with all 3rd -5th-grade teachers for one week in each school.
