GEAR UP students participate in the "Your Voice is Power" workshop at Georgia Tech

On January 22, 2022, GEAR UP Dougherty students participated in the "Your Voice is Power" workshop hosted by the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Science (CEISMC) at Georgia Tech. A partnership between Amazon, Pharrell Williams, and Georgia Tech, this program encourages students to explore how computer science, music, and entrepreneurship can advance equity. The students used Georgia Tech's EarSketch platform and a code of remix of Pharrell's latest song, "Entrepreneur" featuring Jay-Z.
These students will have two opportunities this year to submit their remixes, which will be judged based on quality of music, code, and messaging by a panel of industry professionals. During the workshop, students had an advanced opportunity to share their music, and six of our students won a $25 Amazon gift card!
A huge thanks to our partner, CEISMC, for the invitation.
