Lakisha Bobbitt

ALBANY, GA – Lakisha Bobbitt, who ended the 2025 school year as the principal at Radium Springs Middle School, will start the new school year as the principal at Dougherty Comprehensive High School following a vote of the Dougherty County Board of Education this week.

Bobbitt replaces Principal Jerry Sanders who has accepted a position as assistant superintendent from the Sumter County Board of Education.

Pointing to a quote from Mary McLeod Bethune, Bobbitt says that her faith is the first factor in a life of service and that she’s excited for the challenge at Dougherty.

“I have enjoyed the students, families and staff at Radium and I am equally excited to join the Dougherty family,” Bobbitt said. “I firmly believe that, together, we are going to take the Trojan empire to new heights .With faith and determination, nothing is impossible.”

An administrator with roots in secondary education, Bobbitt served at Radium Springs Middle during the 2024-2025 school year.

“As a proven instructional leader with a deep commitment to student success, Mrs. Bobbitt has demonstrated the vision, resilience, and passion needed to lead Dougherty Comprehensive High School into its next chapter. Her work at Radium Springs Middle laid a strong foundation, and I’m confident she’ll bring that same energy and focus to this new role. She understands the importance of academic rigor, student engagement, and community partnership—qualities that will serve our students and staff well,” DCSS Superintendent Kenneth Dyer said.

Bobbitt got her start in public education in 2006 as an English and Journalism teacher at Americus-Sumter High School in Americus. She also served as an educator in Peach, Tattnall and Houston Counties before being named assistant principal at Southeast Bulloch High School in Bulloch County. She previously served as assistant principal at Baldwin High School before being named principal of Tattnall County High School in 2020.

She’s a former teacher of the year at both Tattnall County High School and Peach County High School; she also was named Peach County High School’s Star Teacher in 2014.
