February is CTAE Month! The Dougherty County School System is proud to celebrate the powerful role Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) plays in preparing students for life after graduation. Throughout the month, schools across Georgia recognize CTAE as a vital pathway to student success. CTAE programs provide real-world knowledge and hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to future careers. From health care and information technology to marketing, finance, and audio and visual production, CTAE opens doors to high-wage, high-demand professions.

As noted by the Georgia Department of Education, CTAE helps students see the relevance of their high school experiences by aligning academics with career goals. Whether students plan to attend college, enter the workforce, pursue registered apprenticeships, or join the military, CTAE equips them with the skills and industry-aligned training needed for long-term success.

In DCSS, CTAE offerings provide students with access to multiple career pathways designed to build technical skills, critical thinking, and workplace readiness. CTAE Week will be celebrated February 9–13 and will feature activities across the district that highlight student learning and career exploration. As part of the celebration, middle school students will visit CTAE programs to explore pathways and experience hands-on learning, helping them begin thinking early about future possibilities. DCSS remains committed to preparing every student for success in college, career, and beyond, and CTAE is a key part of that mission.

This October, students are engaging in our Bullying Prevention Month with the message: “You Belong Here.”

We’re encouraging them to use their voice — to support, include, and speak up for one another. You might ask:
“When do you feel like you really belong?”

It’s a powerful conversation that can spark confidence and connection.

This October, we’re celebrating Bullying Prevention Month with the theme “You Belong Here.”
We’re helping students learn the power of kindness, friendship, and including others.
Ask your child: “What’s one way you made someone feel like they belonged today?”
Small acts of kindness make a big difference — at school and at home. -DCSS

NEVER FORGOTTEN: "Twenty-four years, and it still seems like yesterday for many of us. The unimaginable scenes unfolding right before our eyes as the towers fell and life changed in an instant. September 11 will forever be a reminder of both our nation’s loss and its strength. As we remember, let us honor the fallen by building a future rooted in compassion, unity, and hope." - Kenneth Dyer, Superintendent.
