Good afternoon, parents and guardians!
Please review these important reminders about our upcoming test, homework expectations, and first field trip.
World War I Test—Friday, October 30
Students will have a test on Friday covering World War I. The test will cover the PowerPoint shared in Google Classroom. Instructions for accessing Google Classroom were sent home on Friday, October 23. Please ask your child for this information and take time to review the PowerPoint together.
Each teacher has approximately 45 minutes of instructional time with your child each day. Reviewing lessons at home helps reinforce what students learn in class and prepares them for success. Your partnership makes a meaningful difference!
Homework Packet and Extra Points
Your child received a homework packet on Monday in their Social Studies class. Please ensure that your child completes the entire packet, including the writing assignment on the back. Once it is finished, review the work together and sign at the bottom to verify that you have checked it.
Students who submit a completed packet with a parent or guardian’s signature and a full-page response to the writing topic on the back will receive 15 extra points added to their homework grade.
This opportunity has been explained to students since homework packets were first assigned. Some students are still missing these points, so please encourage your child to complete all requirements and take advantage of this opportunity.
Field Trip—November 17
Our first field trip will be to Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain, Georgia, on November 17th. A form outlining the costs of all fifth-grade senior activities was previously sent home.
If you would like your child to attend, please ensure that the dues for August, September, and October are paid by Friday, October 30, so your child can receive a field trip permission slip. That should be a total of $60 for each month.
Thank you for the support you have shown our fifth-grade teachers and your children. As the proverb reminds us, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Together, we can help our students develop the habits and confidence they need to succeed.
