We are excited to announce that the Dougherty County School System will be celebrating National School Lunch Week from October 20-24, 2025! This year’s theme, “Taste The World: Your School Lunch Passport,” emphasizes the vital role that healthy school lunches play in our students' success both academically and socially.
Research indicates that children are receiving their healthiest meals at school, and during National School Lunch Week, we will showcase the nutritious optionsavailable daily in our cafeterias. Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of healthy foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products. Our program is dedicated to educating students about making healthy choices and the importance of physical activity, ensuring they are well-equipped to thrive in and out of the classroom.
“School lunches offer students fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and milk, and meet federal nutrition standards limiting fat, calories, and sodium,” said Shantal Strozier, Director of School Nutrition. “National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the wonderful benefits of our lunch program.”
This initiative is part of the federally funded National School Lunch Program (NSLP), which has been fueling students for success for 79 years. The “Taste The World: Your School Lunch Passport” campaign is made possible by the nonprofit School Nutrition Association. We invite parents and students to join in the fun on social media by using the hashtags #NSLW25, #TastetheWorld, and #SchoolLunch.
Thank you for your continued support in promoting healthy eating habits among our students and families.
