ALBANY, Ga. -- A team of middle school students from Robert A. Cross Middle Magnet School claimed the top prize at the district's recent Academic Bowl and will advance to the regional bowl in December, officials say.
The DCSS hosted its 2025 District Academic Bowl on Nov. 14 at 4C Academy, where middle school scholars from across the district competed in a spirited showcase of academic achievement.
Led by District Academic Bowl Coordinator Maurice Gibson, the event featured teams from Robert A. Cross Middle Magnet School, Merry Acres Middle School and Radium Springs Middle Magnet School of the Arts.
In a series of competitive rounds, Robert A. Cross emerged as the 2025 District Academic Bowl Champion. The school defeated Radium Springs in both the opening and championship matches to secure the top title. Radium Springs earned second place, prevailing over Merry Acres in an elimination match.

The next academic competition will be the Regional Academic Bowl, hosted by Robert A. Cross Middle Magnet School on Dec. 6, 2025.
The bowl tests students' knowledge over a wide range of topics and materials and is an annual event that also underscores the district's second strategic priority which is focused on academic rigor and relevance.
