Dear Albany Middle School Family,
As we pause to recognize Juneteenth, we honor a vital moment in American history. Celebrated annually on June 19, this federal holiday commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and the enduring fight for freedom, justice, and equality.
On this day in 1865—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued—enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally received news of their freedom. Juneteenth serves as a powerful reminder of the progress we have made and the work that still lies ahead to build a more just and inclusive society.
At Albany Middle School, we are committed to fostering a community where every student, family, and staff member feels seen, heard, and valued. As we reflect on this historic day, let us continue to educate, uplift, and celebrate the rich cultural contributions of African Americans to our nation.
Wishing everyone a meaningful and reflective Juneteenth.
With Indian Pride,
Principal Simmons

Albany Middle School Faculty & Staff,
Today, you touched my heart and pierced my soul in a way words can hardly express. The framed certificate of appreciation and the beautiful gifts you presented to me were not just thoughtful—they were powerful reminders of the love, unity, and purpose we share on this journey.
To say I was surprised would be an understatement. To say I’m grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Many of us started this journey five years ago, and what a journey it has been. Filled with highs and lows, challenges and victories, laughter and growth. But I can say this with all my heart: This journey would mean nothing to me if I had to do it without you.
Together, we’ve experienced far more good days than bad. And in the moments that tested us, we didn’t fold—we fought like champions. Champions for our students. Champions for our mission and vision. Champions for a school that deserves to be seen and celebrated.
We changed the narrative. We changed the energy. And we did it together.
We are the only ones who can truly tell our story the way it’s meant to be told. And as we continue to write it—let’s always remember to let the ORANGE & GREEN speak for us. That’s not just our color—it’s our brand, our identity, our pride.
From the depths of my heart, thank you for the joy you gave me today, and for every single day you stand beside me in this work. You’ve added more than happiness to my life—you’ve added purpose, strength, and family.
With deep love and gratitude,
Mr. Simmons

Dear Albany Middle School Family,
As we celebrate Memorial Day, let us take a moment to pause, reflect, and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces. This day is more than the unofficial start of summer—it is a solemn reminder of the cost of our freedoms and the courage of those who gave their lives to protect them.
On this Memorial Day, may we each find a way to remember and honor those fallen heroes—whether through a quiet moment of reflection, a shared story, or by reaching out to thank a military family for their sacrifice. Let their legacy of courage, duty, and selflessness continue to inspire us in our daily work as educators and role models.
At Albany Middle, we are committed to shaping tomorrow’s leaders with compassion, integrity, and gratitude. Let us carry forward the spirit of service and unity that Memorial Day represents.
Wishing you all a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
With appreciation,
Principal Simmons
