1. April is Month of the Military Child. We will celebrate with Camo Day (wear camo) on Wednesday, April 8th and Purple Up (wear purple) on Thursday, April 9th.
2. The Georgia Milestone Assessment for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders is April 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and 28th for 5th grade only.

We are excited to share that Open Arms Inc., Strive 2 Thrive, and WorkSource of Albany will be available at the Family Resource and Support Center (FRSC) located at 722 Corn Ave., Albany, GA 31701, on Friday, March 13, from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Organization Highlights:

Open Arms Inc.
Provides support for abused, homeless, trafficked, and at-risk youth (ages 0–24) and their families. Services include emergency and transitional housing, support for abuse victims and teen mothers, outreach services, and essential supplies such as diapers and hygiene items.

Strive 2 Thrive
A community-driven program that helps motivated individuals move out of poverty by offering coaching, training, and support. Through partnerships with volunteers, organizations, and local businesses, the initiative provides a “hand-up, not a hand-out,” helping Albany families move toward long-term self-sufficiency and prosperity.

WorkSource of Albany
Offers free services to help individuals find employment and advance their careers, including resume building, interview preparation, job search assistance, skills training (including certifications and GED support), and career counseling. They also support local businesses with recruitment and workforce training.

We encourage families who may benefit from these services to stop by during this time.

To help make our activities extra special, we are collecting a few items:

Happy Monday, Lake Park Families. Here are a few updates and reminders.
1. DCSS schools are closed for Winter Break. Today is a remote learning day for students. Your student's assignment went home in their red folder. Please ensure that your student completes the assignments and returns their homework on Monday, February 23rd.
2. Does your child know their math facts? Please help your child succeed in math by ensuring they know their math facts. First graders should know basic addition facts automatically. Second graders should know basic addition and subtraction facts automatically. Third graders should know basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts automatically. Fourth and fifth-graders should know basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts automatically. Automaticity means they know they can give the correct answer immediately without support.
3. Lake Park's annual Black History Program is on Thursday, February 26th. It is going to be AMAZING!
4. The Georiga Milestones for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders is April 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. Fifth-grade science is on April 28th. Please do not schedule appointments on those dates. We need all of our scholars at school and ready.
