WHS Celebrates World AIDS Day: Monday, December 1, 2025

World AIDS Day, observed annually on December 1st since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness about the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV and to honoring the lives lost to the disease.

At Westover Comprehensive High School, Westover’s Delta GEMS and EMBODI, under the sponsorship of Mrs. Jacqueline Floyd, partnered with youth group volunteers Dr. Kim Preyer and Mrs. Floria Truitt, along with Delta GEMS member Sha’nya Taylor, distributed informational pamphlets on HIV/AIDS to students during their lunch periods. The pamphlets were provided by Mrs. Remy Hutchins, District Program Manager for the Southwest Georgia Public Health Department.

Our talented art students competed in the "Conjuring the Chaos" card game art competition. This competition was a movement to reconnect people, revitalize in-person gatherings, and give local high school art students the opportunity of a lifetime: to have their original artwork permanently featured in a commercially produced game.

We're thrilled to report that we came out on top once again!

Qe'asia Arnold 's illustrations inspired by the world of “Conjure the Chaos" were selected and will receive a copy of her work printed on playable cards complete with artist credit, introducing the first official piece of published art to the world from the company. We are so proud of her! Our art students are once again putting our school on the map!

Senior: Qe'asia Arnold - "Winner" ($250) a copy of her art on a card + the spot on the website gallery
