Important Backpack Policy Reminder

Dear AMS Students and Parents,

As we prepare for the new school year on 08/01/2025, we want to remind you of our ongoing school policy regarding backpacks. In order to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for everyone, we will continue to enforce our tradition of only allowing clear or mesh backpacks on campus.

Please be aware of the following:

Only clear or mesh backpacks are permitted inside the school building. Students with any other type of backpack will be asked to give them to an administrator. A parent conference will be required to retrieve the back pack.

Athletes are the only exception. Student-athletes may carry their solid game bags, but they are only allowed to take them directly to their designated gym locker. Their school supplies must be in a clear or mesh back pack.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and orderly campus. We are looking forward to a great school year!

Sincerely,

Principal Simmons

Important First Day Information for AMS Parents!

Welcome to the first day of school at AMS! We're so excited to have our students back.

To ensure a smooth and safe start for everyone, especially with the high volume of students arriving by bus, we've implemented a few important procedures for tomorrow, Friday, August 1, 2025:

New registrations, withdrawals, and schedule change requests will begin at 1:00 PM. Our faculty and staff will be fully dedicated to managing student arrivals and bus flow in the morning. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in delaying these requests until the afternoon.

Parents will not be permitted to walk their child(ren) to class. This is to help us efficiently manage the flow of students and ensure a secure environment during this busy time. Staff will be available to guide students to their classrooms.

We look forward to a fantastic school year!

Sincerely,

Principal Simmons

🎆 Happy 4th of July, AMS Family!

Today, as we celebrate the spirit of freedom and independence, I encourage each of you to pause and embrace the positive side of life — the moments that truly matter. Whether it's the laughter of family, the warmth of loved ones, or simply taking time to care for yourself, these are the sparks that light up our lives.

Enjoy the festive traditions — the fireworks, the barbecue, the joyful gatherings — and let today remind us of how rich life is when shared with others.

Please be safe, be mindful of your surroundings, and take good care of yourself and those around you, no matter how you choose to celebrate.

Wishing you all a joyful, peaceful, and sparkling 4th of July!

💙❤️
With appreciation,

Dear Albany Middle School Family, As we pause to recognize Juneteenth, we honor a vital moment in American history. Celebrated annually on June 19, this federal holiday commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and the enduring fight for freedom, justice, and equality. On this day in 1865—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued—enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally received news of their freedom. Juneteenth serves as a powerful reminder of the progress we have made and the work that still lies ahead to build a more just and inclusive society. At Albany Middle School, we are committed to fostering a community where every student, family, and staff member feels seen, heard, and valued. As we reflect on this historic day, let us continue to educate, uplift, and celebrate the rich cultural contributions of African Americans to our nation. Wishing everyone a meaningful and reflective Juneteenth. With Indian Pride, Principal Simmons 06/19/2025
