Good afternoon, Lake Park Families. Here are a few updates and reminders.
1. Read Across America Week is this week. On Thursday, students are encouraged to dress as a character they relate to or wear an outfit that represents their favorite culture. Friday is Reading on the Lawn from 1:00-2:00. Please bring a towel or something to sit on and enjoy the sunshine with a good book.
2. Friday Snacks is also this Friday. First and fifth-grade families have the opportunity to shower our staff with treats. https://bit.ly/4r4YTPe

Good evening, Lake Park Families. Next week is Read Across America Week. Please see the attachments for how you and your child can participate.
To help make our activities extra special, we are collecting a few items:
● Empty paper towel and tissue rolls.
● Empty cereal boxes or shoe boxes.
If you have any of these items at home, please send as many as possible to school.
We are also looking for parent volunteers to read at our Reading on the Lawn event on Friday, March 6, from 1:00-2:00. Please share your interest with your child’s teacher.

Happy Monday, Lake Park Families. Here are a few updates and reminders.
1. DCSS schools are closed for Winter Break. Today is a remote learning day for students. Your student's assignment went home in their red folder. Please ensure that your student completes the assignments and returns their homework on Monday, February 23rd.
2. Does your child know their math facts? Please help your child succeed in math by ensuring they know their math facts. First graders should know basic addition facts automatically. Second graders should know basic addition and subtraction facts automatically. Third graders should know basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts automatically. Fourth and fifth-graders should know basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts automatically. Automaticity means they know they can give the correct answer immediately without support.
3. Lake Park's annual Black History Program is on Thursday, February 26th. It is going to be AMAZING!
4. The Georiga Milestones for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders is April 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. Fifth-grade science is on April 28th. Please do not schedule appointments on those dates. We need all of our scholars at school and ready.

1. The LPE Robotics Team is going to the State Robotics Competition at Georgia Tech this weekend! We are super proud of these talented and hard-working Lakers.
2. Friday, February 13th, is Spring Pictures. Friday Life Lab students will come to Lake Park first thing that morning. A Life Lab bus will transport them to Life Lab after Spring Pictures.

Good afternoon, Lake Park Families. Do you have LPE uniforms that no longer fit your child? If so, please donate them to Lake Park. We have a daily need for clothing for our boys and girls. Spills, rips, tears, and accidents happen. It is very helpful when we have clothes on hand for these situations. Thank you!

1. Magnet applications are available for new students who wish to attend Lake Park. Current magnet students with siblings enrolled in pre-K must apply to attend kindergarten at Lake Park. 3. Don't forget to READ, READ, READ! Today marks the end of week 3 of the DCSS Read Bowl! Jersey Day is Monday, January 12th. DCSS is proud to kick off READBowl 2026 in partnership with the Share the Magic Foundation, inviting all PreK-8th grade students to participate in this district-wide literacy initiative. We will begin on Monday, January 12, 2026, with a district-wide Jersey Day to promote literacy and school spirit. Lake Park students can wear jerseys with jeans or uniform pants.

1. LPE Health Club is today, Monday, Dec 15th, for previously registered students. An email was sent to parents. Please plan to pick your child up at 3:45 pm. For questions, please email lpehealthclub@gmail.com
2. Thank you, LPES Cherrydale Supporters! Cherrydale items will be delivered to the school today. Pickup time will start approximately 1 pm and go until 5 pm. Pick up is in the gym. Please use the sidewalk to the right of the building to access the gym.
